Toronto, ON – November 14, 2019 – Greenspoon Marder partner Michael Smith will be a featured speaker at the “Fundamentals of U.S. Securities Law: What Canadian Legal Professionals Need To Know” Conference on November 14^th in Toronto. Mr. Smith will speak on the “Public Offerings” session, which will discuss topics including the basic requirements of Section 5 of the Securities Act of 1933, SEC offering rules, MJDS offerings, bought deal considerations, and blue sky requirements. He will be joined in this session by Wendi Locke, Partner at the Canadian law firm McCarthy Tétrault LLP. During this conference, leading U.S. and Canadian securities law experts will deliver practical information and explore key issues in American securities law. Topics will include a comparison between U.S. and Canadian securities law; the role, composition, organization and division of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC); and what Canadian issuers need to know about private placement techniques.

Michael Smith is a partner in the Corporate & Business Practice Group at Greenspoon Marder.
